Shimmer, strike, and sing—enSRQ’s January program explores sound in its most elemental and tactile forms. Nina C. Young’s Sun Propeller spins solo violin lines through a prism of live electronics. Claude Vivier’s Learning fuses four violins, percussion, and tape into a mysterious sonic ritual. Devonté Hynes’s Perfectly Voiceless transforms synthesized sound into a striking live percussion interlude, bridging electronic texture and physical performance. Closing the night, Chris Cerrone’s Goldbeater’s Skin—for percussion quartet and mezzo-soprano Thea Lobo—alternates luminous melodic development with glittering rhythmic outbursts.
