enSRQ launches its historic 10th Season with a kaleidoscopic evening of American voices, past and present. Sebastian Currier’s Whispers opens the program with fleeting fragments and shimmering textures that seem to vanish as quickly as they appear. Amy Williams’ newly commissioned Tangled Madrigal—written for string quartet—spins baroque inspired counterpoint into a vibrant contemporary tapestry. Jerod Tate’s Inchokkillissa, for guitar and percussion, draws on Chickasaw imagery to create a rhythmic, ceremonial sound world. Closing the night, Elliott Carter’s Triple Duo pits three instrumental pairs in a brilliant, high-energy dialogue—music of wit, virtuosity, and fearless invention.
